Goat Camp 2026
2026 Camp was the G.O.A.T.!
“Goat Camp was the highlight of the kids’ summer! They loved every minute, especially getting to know the goats. They still ask if they can go back and visit them. Thank you for creating such a fun, educational, and caring environment. We couldn’t have asked for a better camp experience, and we’re already looking forward to next year! 🐐💛”
What an amazing time. We had perfect weather for a week filled with animal companionship, exploring nature, eating delicious plant-based food, being creative and crafty, and playing group games. We got to hang out with old friends and meet new ones, both animal and human. This year each camper selected a resident to profile throughout the week in their journal. They took the time to get to know an individual animal, learning all about them in a Q & A with our goat expert/tour guide Ashley and spending time with them when we were hanging in the pastures and barns!
Campers loved the daily delicious plant-based lunches from the Planted Kitchen. The chickpea burgers and nacho bar were a big hit but the favorite was the vegan ice cream sundae bar on Thursday afternoon!
The campers dyed their own bandanas using indigo and the shibori tie dye method, and they turned out so cool. There were plenty of fun projects during down time hanging at our base camp courtesy of our resident health specialist Abbey, who doubles as our arts and crafts expert. Our new 5k track made for the perfect hiking trail where we got to engage with Indiana flora and fauna, play games in the woods and see some cool bugs.
Campers also had a lot of fun learning about how we take care of our residents, running the goats out to pasture to forage in the mornings and helping us collect eggs from the chickens’ nesting boxes in the afternoons.
It is always hard to say goodbye, especially for some of the goats who love having the kids around and could get cuddled all day. I want to recognize and thank our two Counselors in Training (CITs), Soren and Phoebe, who were a HUGE help, assisting with lunches, keeping morale high, and having a blast with the campers and residents.
Finally, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our community that helps us keep this amazing place going. We couldn't do it without you and your support.
See you next year!
