Sanctuary Resident Care Specialist

The Goat Conspiracy Sanctuary is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Sanctuary Resident Care Specialist to provide daily care to the Sanctuary’s Residents and assist in the maintenance of our rural facility. This role works directly with the Sanctuary Operations Manager and Executive Director to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of all Sanctuary animal Residents. Previous animal care experience is preferred, but not necessary. 

Pay / Schedule:

  • Pay: $16.00 per hour.

  • Guaranteed 16 hours per week. Required weekly shifts are Sunday Morning Chores (9 a.m.–12 p.m.) and Monday Evening Chores (a two-hour shift that adjusts with sunset time), the additional 11 hours are flexible and can be adjusted weekly.

  • Benefits: This is a part-time position with no added benefits.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Animal Care: Address daily needs including morning feedings, watering, and providing supplements or hay. Assist with medical treatments, transport to the vet, and routine hoof care maintenance.

  • Sanctuary Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the barn and nesting boxes. 

  • Pasture Management: Help rotate goats through pastures to ensure their security, safety, and optimal forage quality.

  • Events & Outreach: Assist with goat transportation and preparation for on-site events or outreach programs.

Requirements:

  • A strong commitment to animal welfare.

  • Be 18 years of age at time of hire.

  • Reliable transportation.

  • Willingness to adhere to a plant based diet while at work; consumable animal products are not permitted on Sanctuary property.

  • Physical ability to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions.

  • Ability to safely lift and carry 50 lbs repetitively (e.g., unloading a hay delivery).

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

  • Flexibility to adapt to the shifting daily needs of a living sanctuary.
